ZINE

If you have to sleep alone, it’s comforting to know that you are not the only one.
“The white paper boat” is a fictional poem about someone who has travelled the seven seas and
is far away from a loved one. The informal format of zines gave me the liberty to use my own
photography and writing. I took this opportunity to express at a more personal level. I chose
to use a poetic feel for the typography and tied it with the process of Polaroid Transfer for the photography.
The typography is designed to resonate the writing, but not in a way to distract from the photography.
The imperfections of the borders are juxtaposed with the writing to achieve a contrasting feel. Loose pages
further extend the idea of something personal. The production is done by photocopying the spreads,
mostly onto colored papers, restricting them mostly to a black and white photocopier.
